An adventure I've had in Minneapolis has been featured in a popular technology blog. It's titled Rolling in the Money and I'd like to thank The Daily WTF for sharing it.
The article mentions my friend Calvin's game Venture the Void, so if you want to help out a pal, go buy a copy of his game.
Update: You can also read the original email I sent to Calvin about this outing.

You might want to let Calvin know that putting up a trailer that isn't so horribly pixelated might be a good idea.
Oh dear :_) Anyhow thank-u Kevin I don't think it's quite going to make me a bajillionairre but you do get the 2% or 5% or whatever it is anyhow...
Xenobiologista: Welcome to my blog! Calvin = PsySal so I assume your critique is already read!
Calvin: In regard to some of the comments, I did have a moment of trepidation before submitting the story, since harsh comments are in the nature of the place. Anyway I hope it becomes helpful criticism after the devastating emotional pain wears off.
Critiques are appreciated, and trust me... all the emotional pain was borne by me BEFORE the game was actually released. Hard to explain but when you wrestle with a project like this you tend to come to terms with what it is and what it isn't. =) The trailer was really hard to put together as I didn't really have any tools for it, so I had to piece it together more or less frame my frame from framedumps.
I have a higher quality version but I think I also have the original framedump, so if I used a better encoder I'm sure I'd get much better results! Ce'st la vie!
I saw the WTF. So that was you being interviewed by the crszy idea man? LOL. Next time the location is an apartment, I am going to bolt before the interview starts.
I saw this story posted on TDWTF as well, and was quite interested when I saw your blog link. I've just read it through from start to end, over the course of the day (it's late Thursday night).
Your journey is very inspiring to me, as I am coming upon some major events which are going to dramatically change the way I live my own life.
One thing sticks in my mind though: day 79. I wonder if it really was an uneventful day, or if you spent a night and a day with the two kayakers, who forever changed your view of the universe.
Thank you for the great reading and much needed inspiration. And of course, my best wishes for the remainder of your journey.
This strange sideways exposure actually could be a real opening for Calvin - not for megabucks, but at least for a self-esteem-improving level of income.
If I were him, my number-one Please Play My Game e-mail target would be rockpapershotgun.com. They have that magic combination of (a) having an immense affection for oddball PC games and (b) having a big audience.
Rock Paper Shotgun have posted multiple articles about "Dwarf Fortress" AND "Mount And Blade". And they're UK-based. So an evolved Elite like VtV is so up their alley that the alley is probably named after it. And unless Google-fu has failed me, they've not yet noticed VtV at all.
(It could indeed be an idea to whip up a nicer-looking demo reel, especially now that YouTube can deliver reasonably-HD video. But if you catch RPS's attention, they're not just going to jot a 100-word review based on the demo vid. This is more their style.)
Hmn, thanks Dan I will have to try them out. I had only very meagre success getting videogame review sites to notice it. Even TiGsource didn't mention it, and they ONLY cover indie games.
Bravo. Ironically, I think it was just a good an advertisement for your trip as it was for Calvin's game.
